Takuko Katayanagi
Takuko Katayanagi is a Tokyo-based photographer whose work looks closely at objects, surfaces, and fragments of the everyday urban environment. Originally trained in metalworking, she began studying photography more seriously through workshops with Kenji Takazawa and later Osamu Kanemura.
Her photographs often begin close to home, paying attention to ordinary things that can become unfamiliar through framing, scale, and repetition. Rather than directing the viewer toward a single subject, her images leave space for looking, uncertainty, and discovery.
Katayanagi has exhibited regularly in Japan and has produced an extensive series of self-published photobooks and zines alongside her exhibition work.
